Abstract   Primary small cell carcinoma of the esophagus has rarely been reported since l95L Its clinical behavior does not differ from the small cell carcinoma of the lung, which follows an aggressive course with rapid and widespread disemination, and its prognosis is poor. Here we report the study of a 68-year-old female patient and 70-year-old male patient with small cell carcinoma of the esophagus who respond to VP-16 alone and cipslatin and VP-16, ifosfamide combination chemotherapy, respectively. In the former, surgical resection was performed before chemotherapy.
